People sit on the streets
Hungry and alone
Begging for scarps of food
The cold alley is their home
People get shot everyday
And we don’t even blink an eye
To us it’s just a part
Of our USA lives
Tragedy brought us together
Which in itself is sad
Why not unite when it’s good
Why only when it’s bad
Why do teens do drugs
And join gangs and fight
Going around stealing
And killing in the night
Why do kids bring guns
To small town country schools
Why do children disobey
Why don’t they follow rules
People kill their children
Without a second thought
Watching them scream and shout
‘Mommy please, please stop’
We give criminals fame
Their fifteen minutes of air
Our prisons have softened up
To killers they’re to fair
Advertising sex
In every little ad
Our nation grows up pervy
Which is so very sad
The TV takes the place
Of dinner around a table
Glued to that big screen
It’s just so horrible
Our young minds corrupt
By porno on the web
Boys locked in their rooms
To much fun in bed
Innocent people
Who never thought such things
End up watching videos
Of girls mud wrestling
High schoolers with toddlers
Walking down the hall
One mistake has changed them
That one thing made them fall
Abuse is heard from next door
Why don’t they call it in‘Because’, they tell the cops
‘We are such close friends’
Women beaten to a pulp
They hide it the next day
But when he comes home drunk again
The price is hers to pay
Some hit their kids
I don’t know how or why
How can they hold a fist
To a little girls weak cry
We say we are
The land of the free
Do you see the wrong
Or is it just me?
It seems the price
Of freedom is high
I just want
To ask you all why
Why are people dying
The effects of our mistakes
Why don’t we even care
This is life in these United States
